Process of Acquiring Agro/Food Export License in Nigeria: A Step-by-Step Guide

1. To obtain an export license for your  Agro/food business, you need to register a limited liability company with the corporate affairs commission (CAC) through your lawyer.

The following document will be submitted to the Nigeria export promotion council (NEPC).

* A duly completed export license  application form obtained from the Nigerian export promotion council (NEPC).

* Copy of the certificate of incorporation.

*Memorandum and article of association.

* Certified true copy of form CAC 7 (DIRECTORS) and CAC 2 (SHARES/ALLOCATION)

PRE/POST AGRO/FOOD (PRODUCE) EXPORT DOCUMENTATION IN NIGERIA

1. PRE-EXPORT DOCUMENTATION IN NIGERIA - The following documents are required by CBN (Central bank of Nigeria) to be submitted to the bank before any legal export can take place, these include;

* Completed original NXP (Nigeria export proceed) form. 

* Valid Nigeria export promotion council (NEPC) license (copy). 

* Valid pro-forma invoice (copy).

* Completed original copy of inspection e.g. cobalt, RFI ( request for inspection) form.

* Certificate of incorporation (copy).

2. POST EXPORT DOCUMENTATIONS (EXCHANGE CONTROL DOCUMENT) - 

Upon shipment of goods, the following documents (called exchange control documents) are required by CBN (central bank of Nigeria) to be submitted to the bank:

* NXP (Nigeria export proceed) form duly endorsed and stamped by the customs service, evidencing shipment of goods.

*Receipt of payment for Nigeria export supervision scheme (NESS) fees, i.e. naira equivalent of 0.5% of the F.O.B. value of the shipment.

* Single goods declaration (SGD) form issued by customs.

* Clean certificate of inspection (CCI) issued by inspection company.

* Bill of lading

* Invoice

* Parking list

* Manifest e.t.c.
