What Fertilizer Is Best For Cassava Seeds And Plants In Nigeria.

None....No fertilizer for cassava. If you use fertilizer, the fufu becomes dark blue. The harvested tubers (yam or cassava) will rot after  3 days. Don't use fertilizers for all tubers……cassava, yam, coco-yam, potatoe. Also, the garri also burns during frying. Eba will not draw. Don't use fertilizer……otherwise there will be no repeat buyers.

All I want to say is cassava grow well in Nigeria. You don't need fertilizer Nigeria land is very OK for cassava simply. However, it depends on the level of your soil fertility. Normally, cassava doesn't necessarily require fertilizer application to yield well in a good clay-loamy soil. It's waste of money to apply fertilizer. Yes, for good yeild - plough and harrow the land before planting. Whatever fertilizer you use, supplement it with organic chicken manure for longer soil nutrients and reduction of cost of production.

Phosphorus fertilizer should be given priority. You know casava is tuber crop there fore  phosphorous should be need most for root formation. Not Phosphate please but potassium. Cassava doesn't need phosphate.

Root an tuber crops need more Potassium and phosphorus during its productive phase so go for a fertilizer high in P and K. The application should be done at the on set of the productive phase  while for the vegetative growth, fertilizer high in Nitrogen should be applied. Since potassium fertilizer is best for tuber crops and phosphorus fertilizer for legumes. It's better you use murate of pottash (a straight fertilizer).

Like i said earlier, it depends on nutritional requirements of that particular soil.  But any phosphorus fertilizer will be good for tuber, like NPK 12.12.17, 20.10.10. or 13.13.27. NPK 15.15.15 are not good on cassava. But in your best interest, use organic fertilizer. Incorporate it into the soil before planting. Use either 15:15 or 20 10:10 cassava is a tuber crop both of them can work infact both of them works magic. Honestly I have never farmed cassava but I know NPK 15:15:15 is the best for root crops. I used it for irish potato and the yield is too good. My advice. Check for your buyers preference, if they buy organic or conventional. If yes,
use NPK 27:13:13 apply after planting or use NPK 15:15:15. But the second has give a better yield.

But I don't understand why is some people feeding other farmers with wrong and evil devilish terrible information how can someone say herbicide works as fertilizer. Fear God.

Is it for all crops that this herbicide will serve as a fertilizer? Lol. Herbicides are formulated to control weeds and there's no fertility elements in them.

Just maintain your farm  Well, good land and adequate weeding or brushing is enough for good yield and maximum production of cassava.

Cassava, its ability to produce reasonable yielding on a poor soil have given rise to the believe that cassavas doesn't require any chemical or fertilizer to strive. The best fertilizer is SUPER GRO. It is very efficient, makes thr soil  more wetter. Your cassava will yield plenty big tubers.

Super Gro is a natural liquid fertilizer developed to ensure the enhancement of crops and improve agricultural productivity. it also functions as an adjuvant/surfactant that enables more water to reach the roots of the plant, thus optimizing plant growth in less time.

Whatever fertilizer you use, supplement it with organic chicken manure for longer soil nutrients and reduction of cost of production.

Use Poultry manure.

- Apply fertilizer to cassava plants at planting and then again about 6-8 weeks after planting.

3. How much fertilizer should I apply to cassava plants?

- Apply fertilizer at a rate of about 200-400 kg per hectare, depending on soil fertility and plant growth stage.

4. Should I use organic or inorganic fertilizer for cassava?

- Both organic (such as compost or manure) and inorganic (chemical) fertilizers can be used for cassava, but inorganic fertilizers are commonly preferred for quicker results.

5. How do I apply fertilizer to cassava plants?

- Spread the fertilizer evenly around the base of the cassava plants and then lightly incorporate it into the soil.

- Cassava plants require nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) in balanced amounts for healthy growth and yield.

7. Are there specific fertilization practices for different stages of cassava growth?

- Yes, during the early stages, focus on nitrogen for foliage growth, and during later stages, increase phosphorus and potassium for root development and yield.

8. Can I use foliar fertilizers on cassava plants?

- Yes, foliar fertilizers can be used to supplement soil fertilization, especially during periods of rapid growth or nutrient deficiency.

9. What should I do if cassava plants show signs of nutrient deficiency?

- Identify the specific deficiency (like yellowing leaves for nitrogen deficiency) and adjust fertilizer application accordingly.

10. Where can I buy fertilizer for cassava in Nigeria?
