When nursing seeds, there are some percentage that should be added to take care of:
* Seeds that will not germinate,
* Seeds that will germinate but will not survive at the nursery stage.... &
* Seedlings that will be transplanted & will not survive after transplanting, which will need to be resupplied.
For nursing in nursery beds: 40 to 50% should be added. For example, is your proposed plant population 1000, it us advisable to nurse 1400 to 1500 seedlings.
For nursing in seed trays: 30% should be added. For example if your plant population is suppose to be 1000, it's advisable to 1300.
HINT:
Don't plant seeds to deep & to close to increase seeds rate of germinate & seedlings survival rate.
