1. The first mistake every poultry farmer needs to avoid is not been financially prepared. When most farmer start their farm, they are very happy. Some even start calculating their profit before it get to selling stage. But they do not calculate how much they are going to spend from a day old chicks to maturity. And at the end of they day, the cost of feeding and cost of medication, they wouldn't afford them. They then end up collapsing or their poultry farm end up collapsing. So please, if you want to start poultry farming make sure you calculate the  cost from a day old to maturity stage.

2. The second mistake you need to avoid as a poultry farmer is buying your poultry birds from an unknown source or getting birds from a breeder who has poor management. If this happen, you may be buying birds that have disease that are not immediately manifestable, which means the disease might not manifest itself immediately but as soon as you bring this birds to they poultry house, that is when you discover the birds are sick birds. So please, get your birds from a good breeder with good management. Because, no matter what you give to sick birds, you end up wasting your time and money without no improvement.

3. Lastly as a poultry farmer, the third mistake you need to avoid is not feeding your poultry birds with quality feed or not feeding with the right feed. Note feeding is number one major cost in poultry business, so do not settle for low quality feed all because you want to save money. You might end up loosing your birds, they might fall sick or die and you end up running at great lost or spending more money.
